The Texas Wrestling League was an American regional promotion that existed from the 1960's to 1995. Founded by wrestler/promoter Clint Wayne, the TWL served Texas and the Mid-South region as a whole, providing wrestling to the territory during the Regional Era. One of the most famous angles to come out of the TWL was the infamous and bloody feud between Chief Two Eagles and Professor Mycroft Nero. The legendary Rip Chord is also a former champion, and the renowned tag team The Lords of Pain also had a run in the Texas Wrestling League early in their careers. Current SWF and TCW wrestlers Skull DeBones and Ricky Dale Johnson began their careers as a tag team known as the Modern Day Cowboys, under the names Winchester and Sidewinder, respectively.

The TWL was initially able to withstand the expansion of the Supreme Wrestling Federation, and was the last of the original territorial companies to survive, lasting all the way to February 1995, although it was never able to compete with the SWF or maintain its former status as a once-great company. The Texas Wrestling League finally closed its doors for good in February 1995, leaving a lasting legacy of memorable gimmicks, violent angles, and old-school action.
